If you have followed my blog, you know that two weeks ago we traveled to SC for Ken to complete the application and take a work styles assessment "test" at a company. The company was to notify us within the next week whether or not Ken would qualify to move on to an interview.
We waited a week and a half before we decided to call to see what was happening. To make a long story short, Ken's work style "doesn't fit their company." That answer rather stunned us since for 25 years Ken has been doing what this company does and he has consistently received excellent performance ratings in his yearly reviews. They're NUTS! They just missed their opportunity to add an excellent employee to their team.
Sure, we're a little disappointed because Ken was feeling some excitement about working there after he had seen the facility, and being told you don't fit doesn't feel very good, but this company was not his first choice anyway. More importantly, we've been praying in faith that God is working in our favor. So we're thanking God for protecting Ken from working for (and maybe with!) a bunch of NUTS!
Such a fine line divides perseverance and persistence from pushing doors open. By the end of my conversation with Mr Claudio, he changed from saying Ken could try again in 6 months to 4 months, then eventually 2 months and let him "see what he could work out." We said we would think about that. Well, as we have thought and prayed, the "fine line" has become clearly defined. We will persevere and persist watching other employment opportunities, but we're not going to push a door open to work with NUTS.
We are on an employment opportunity alert email list with Ken's first choice. Whenever any position is posted in the category he has chosen, we receive an email with a link to the posting. We've received several email alerts over the past weeks, right category, but not right position except for one time. That position was only part time, however, and Ken needs full time. I just downloaded our email and saw an alert and checked the posting: It's a full-time materials handling position! I'm eager to wake up Ken to tell him, but since he has been working so much overtime and is sleeping in on a Saturday morning, I will suppress my eagerness.

Still praying that all will work out for you. God knew this position at the other place was coming up. I wouldn't want to work for Nuts either.
Thanks for the comment on my blog. Yes, you can add my name to your list. Rhonda and I did have a great time on our trip. I can't even begin to describe the beauty of God's creation!
Hope things work out with the job hunting. I know what it's like to work with NUTS - we have a few cracked ones at my place of employment. Sometimes I just have to shake my head in wonder.
